McAfee announces security innovation alliance Print E-mail
Sept 19 -- McAfee Inc. announced Monday a new program for technology companies wanting to integrate with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO). The McAfee Security Innovation Alliance will provide a set of tools designed to help integrate third-party applications with McAfee's security and compliance risk management technology, McAfee said.

Customers deserve easier integration, and it is up to technology companies to make it happen, McAfee of Santa Clara, California said. Vendors need to make sure that their products are interoperable, and McAfee is taking the lead on making this happen, the company said. McAfee believes that security should be easy to manage, which is why McAfee ePO will work with a variety of technologies, not just McAfee products, it said.

Through the Security Innovation Alliance, McAfee will work with technology partners to deliver integrated, heterogeneous security and compliance optimization, the company said.

McAfee also announced Monday availability of the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 4.0, the basis of the new program, the company said.

McAfee is a security technology company that delivers proactive and proven solutions and services that secure systems and networks around the world, the company said. With its security expertise and commitment to innovation, McAfee empowers home users, businesses, public sector, and service providers with the ability to block attacks, prevent disruptions, and continuously track and improve their security, McAfee added.

Every enterprise has multiple solutions securing their environment, according to research firm, IDC of Framingham, Massachusetts. By increasing integration with ePO, customers will be able to manage their security and compliance, IDC said. Currently, most companies have too many agents and management consoles to manage their environments effectively, IDC added.

There are currently over 30,000 McAfee customers using ePO to manage nearly 55 million endpoints, McAfee said. The McAfee Security Innovation Alliance provides APIs (application programming interfaces) and software development kits for faster integration with ePO, the company said. Security Innovation Alliance partners will certify their applications with ePO using these APIs, it said. The program features a variety of security risk management modules to help partners optimize their applications more quickly, McAfee added.

McAfee has constantly worked with other vendors to facilitate the integration of their technologies, McAfee said. This new program provides a formalized way for partners to certify that their applications work in a streamlined fashion, the company said.
